'My husband wants to name our daughter after car part - he won't budge from it'

Naming a baby isn't always as easy as it sounds - especially when one parent refuses to let go of a particular moniker. That's exactly what one mom-to-be is up against with her husband, who refuses to budge from a name he fell in love with at high school.

She explained how she and her husband are expecting their second child - and were delighted to learn they're having their first daughter. Speaking on Reddit , she said: "My husband told me years ago that in high school he had come up with the most awesome name for a girl: Chassis (pronounced Chassy).

"Now that we are actually going to have a daughter, he brought the name up again, which I almost immediately said no to. I really don't like the sound of the name to begin with and I also don't want our daughter to be named after a car part."

However, he claims it's the only girl's name he has ever like - and he is now refusing to consider any others as options. Seeking advice, she added: "Now when I bring up naming our daughter, he is pretty disinterested and says 'meh' to a bunch of names.

"I've tried downloading an app where we can swipe right/left on names and see which ones we match with, which aren't many. But even still he does not seem interested in those names either."

The woman then asked Redditors for the advice on the awkward situation. She added: "I don't know what to do. Thoughts on the name Chassis? Am I being too stubborn or insensitive to him?"

Commenting on her post, one user said: "No, if you're married choosing a name requires two yes votes in my opinion." Another user added: "Not too stubborn. Names are a two yes, one no proposition. Chassis is a hard no from any sane person. Good luck with your spouse! Cassandra, Christine, Christa all could have his idiotic nickname if he insists on giving it a try so I'd avoid/suggest those as you see fit."

And a third user said: "Why not Cassie or Cassidy or something similar sounding that won’t embarrass her forever? He is being ridiculous."
