General Hospital fans divided over Jagger's 'wasted potential' as they question his fate

A character appears to be exiting General Hospital, and fans are at odds over it.

In an showdown between Agent John "Jagger" Cates and Sonny Corinthos , Jagger met his demise. Their tension and eventual confrontation had been brewing for a while, so a violent end felt evitable. Jagger has been holding a grudge against Sonny for years because of what he did to his late wife Karen Wexler. Sonny got Karen hooked on drugs, stripped and slept with her.

Jagger's behavior as of late has been dubbed unhinged by fans as he allowed his obsession with taking Sonny down lead him to going after Kristina in the aftermath of her falling out the window and losing the baby. He has had Kristina arrested twice on different charges: trying to kill Ava and currently the manslaughter of the baby Irene. His behavior and actions against Kristina has not only angered Alexis but Sonny who is over Jagger coming after his child. One thing Sonny has made clear is that he has no tolerance for anyone coming after his children nor his family.

Fans have been divided all over on social media about Jagger's death. Some have even been also debating if it was actually real or a dream. Some fans are happy that Jagger is gone after they found his storyline since coming back to be disappointing, especially in regards to Kristina and Sonny. Others are disappointed that the show brought him back and did nothing with him.

One fan on X formerly Twitter said: " Finally. Finally Sonny did his own dirty work. Jagger had gone too far. May he rot in tv eternity." A second fan said " Way to go, Sonny! I hope he continues to get away with killing people because Jagger needed to GO." Another said: " Adam J Harrington came onto the show as a recast and was a great John 'Jagger' Cates. It’s a d--- shame how this show wasted his potential." A fourth fan exclaimed: "They had Sonny shoot Jagger freaking Cates in the head?! What was the point of even bringing him back?!? "What a waste of a legacy character. Jagger deserved better. They could have left him off canvas for all he did since his return."
