Arsenal brings in 4 players but loses 7 as deadline day passes for Mikel Arteta

Arsenal fans should be pretty pleased with their summer business after securing depth in a number of key positions to boost their hopes for a first Premier League title since 2004 - with Raheem Sterling a deadline day arrival.

The Gunners have brought in a new goalkeeper in David Raya, who comes in on a permanent deal, Ricardo Califiori has been brought in to bolster the back line while new midfielder Mikel Merino has also arrived to challenge the likes of Declan Rice, Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

Mikel Arteta's side looked to be done there but deadline day saw them add Sterling late in the day. It became clear that the winger had no future at Chelsea and the Arsenal boss had worked with the winger when he was an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

The decision was made to land Sterling on loan and he will now provide competition and back-up for Bukayo Saka - which had been a concern previously.

There were also a handful of outgoings too after certain stars discovered they were not set to feature in Arteta's plans for the season.

Aaron Ramsdale's future at Arsenal looked bleak after Raya usurped his No 1 goalkeeping spot last season and he later secured a move to Southampton on deadline day.

    David Raya (Brentford, $35m)

    Ricardo Calafiori (Bologna, $55m)

    Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad, $41m)
