Man Utd sign 6 and lose 9 players as crucial window for Erik ten Hag slams shut

Ineos' first transfer window at the helm of Manchester United is over - and it's been a positive one.

The Red Devils needed to strengthen their squad after a dreadful 2023/24 campaign and Erik ten Hag has been backed with five permanent signings for the new Premier League season.

United have strengthened the entire spine of their team throughout the window with Manuel Ugarte becoming the club's sixth and final signing on deadline day and all of the deals struck have been on favorable terms. There have been coups, too, such as the capture of Lille's defensive prodigy Leny Yoro ahead of Real Madrid.

There have also been a number of outgoings over the past couple of months which were necessary considering the club headed into the window with a limited transfer budget.

Funds have been raised from offloading players such as Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Hannibal Mejbri, who had entered the final year of their contract. Others were also sold for fees, including Mason Greenwood.

A deadline day saga involving Chelsea and Jadon Sancho also went to the wire before the former Borussia Dortmund man was given the green light to head to Stamford Bridge. It remains to be seen if the deal was completed in time, but indications are that it was.
