    Mississippi disaster as bus flips and crashes killing 7 with at least 37 other passengers injured

    Seven people died and 37 more passengers were injured after a bus crashed and flipped along a Mississippi highway , cops have revealed.

    The horror crash occurred on Interstate 20 near Bovina around 12:40 a.m. and involved a 2018 Volvo commercial passenger bus, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The vehicle was headed westbound on the highway when the vehicle's tire reportedly blew out. The driver then lost control of the vehicle as it swerved off the road and overturned leaving many trapped inside.

    Six passengers were pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident, with one other victim later succumbing to their injuries at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg. A reported 37 other people inside the vehicle were also injured in the dangerous crash and rushed to various hospitals.

    Troopers confirmed that the co-driver of the bus was not transported to a hospital but the driver suffered a shoulder injury. The victims involved in the accident have not yet been identified. Speaking on the tragic accident, Warren County Sheriff, Martin Pace, told WLBT : "Multiple injuries and multiple fatalities... it just compounds the tragedy."

    Warren County resident Magan Gonzalez told Vicksburg News there were several families on board the bus at the time of the crash. She explained: "People were trapped in the bus and trying to get out. One young couple was somehow out and walking around," and added: "But I was trying to let the people who were trapped know help was on the way."

    She went on to add that the bus driver was injured in the accident but refused to receive medical treatment until everyone was safely evacuated off of the bus. Gonzalez said: "The driver was very upset that he couldn't control the bus and felt responsible for the accident," and continued: "He kept blaming himself and didn't understand why he wasn't able to keep the bus on the road after the tire blew out."

    The Vicksburg Fire Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene and worked for over two hours to rescue the passengers trapped inside. Interstate 20 was then shut down and the crash is currently under investigation by MHP and the Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division.
