    Tributes pour in for Fatman Scoop from hip-hop community after rapper's tragic death

    Fatman Scoop made an impression on the hip-hop world that will never be forgotten.

    His death was announced on Saturday, a day after he collapsed on stage performing for a crowd in Connecticut. The rapper's family shared a post on his Instagram page, confirming the news.

    "A message from the Freeman Family," it started, "It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of the legendary and iconic FatMan Scoop,"

    The tribute continued: "Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life. FatMan Scoop was not just a world class performer, he was a father, brother, uncle and a friend.

    "He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage. FatMan Scoop was known to the world as the undisputed voice of the club."

    The tribute ended: "His music made us dance and embrace life with positivity. His joy was infectious and the generosity he extended to all will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As we mourn the loss of FatMan Scoop, we also celebrate his remarkable life and the countless lives he touched. FatMan Scoop's legacy is of love and brightness, it will reside in our hearts and memories forever."

    Stars of the music world also shared their condolences about Fatman Scoop's passing. Missy Elliot, who Fatman Scoop was featured on her song Lose Control, shared a tribute to the star on her Instagram page.

    "Prayers for Fatman Scoop family for STRENGTH during such a difficult time," her caption read, "Fatman Scoop VOICE & energy have contributed to SO MANY songs that made people feel HAPPY & want to DANCE for over 2 decades everytime you hear them… His IMPACT is HUGE & will be NEVER be forgotten."

    Before the rapper's death was announced, Lil Jon shared an Instagram Story that read: "Pray for Fatman Scoop." Then after his death was announced, he shared a video of Fatman Scoop in the studio recording his part of Missy Elliot's song Lose Control.

    Producer Timbaland shared a post on Instagram honoring the rapper. "Man I’m lost for words," he captioned a picture of Fatman Scoop, "Drop was the song I start off with on tour. Rest easy."

    Fat Joe shared an Instagram tribute as well, writing: "My brother i love you im praying for you God bless @fatmanscoop. Rest in paradise."

    Questlove wrote a lengthy caption on Instagram as a tribute to the iconic rapper: "On behalf of all the $100 bill (& $50 & $20 & $10— because inclusivity was key) owners…On behalf of all the loud af Single Ladies. On behalf of all Aquarians, Pieces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgos, Libra, Scorpios, Sagittarius & Capricorn born people.

    "On behalf of people with various hair lengths. On behalf of everyone who procreates after a celebratory night in the club. On Behalf of all human beings whose hands have the ability to raise up. On behalf of loud Black, Puerto Rican, White & “everybody else” people.

    "On behalf of the LIVE woman in proximity to the stage be you standing in front or the back or the side who can shake a lot or a little. On behalf of the fellas who indeed kept it moving. Even the player haters & loud chickenheads should be represented for they are a part of the story.

    "On behalf of EVERY DJ who needed to spike the punch with adrenaline music to make the energy INSTANTLY rise from a 3 to a way past spinal tap 11," he added, his mentions referencing Fatman Scoop's hit song Be Faithful.

    The post finished: "I want to thank FATMAN SCOOP for being an embodiment of what hip hop was truly about. To just forget about your troubles and live in the moment and allow joy in. So sad to see you go my brother. You will be missed but you will NEVER be forgotten."
