Tom Brady and Bill Belichick braced for new Patriots doc as dynasty question answered

More Tom Brady and Bill Belichick drama is on the way: a new documentary covering the New England Patriots dynasty is in the works.

This one, however, will be spearheaded by a member of the actual team. Many players from the Patriots were upset with Apple's portrayal of them in " The Dynasty " docuseries from earlier this year, and former New England long snapper Lonie Paxton is attempting to rewrite the narrative. "It's not a response (to the Apple docuseries), it's just a different perspective," he told The Sun . "I think we're going to do the content justice."

Paxton featured on the vaunted New England teams from 2000 to 2008, snapping the game-winning field goal from Adam Vinatieri in Super Bowl XXXVI that kickstarted the dynasty. He's also a lifelong friend of Brady .

"It's a miniseries about whether it was whether it was Tom Brady or Bill Belichick," he added. "It asks the question: who was the reason for the dynasty? "

Many will point to Brady's accomplishments after leaving Belichick in New England to give the quarterback more credit for the dynasty. The pair teamed up to win six titles in New England, but Brady left as a 43-year-old and swiftly delivered a Super Bowl win to Tampa Bay.

Belichick, meanwhile, only reached the playoffs once in his three seasons without his Hall of Fame quarterback and has since found himself out of an NFL coaching job.

"We get some guys and girls to talk about Bill and we get some guys and girls to talk about Tom. We [also] get some fans' perspectives and we make the verdict at the end. It's a fun topic. It's something that will never be answered but it's fun to play with as at least in pro football for the past 20 years that's been one of the main topics."

Many players on those dominant New England teams not named Brady felt aggrieved the original docuseries did not highlight their contributions, including former two-time First-team All-Pro safety Rodney Harrison.

"It didn’t tell the stories of me coming and (running back) Corey Dillon,” Harrison said earlier this year . “I mean I interviewed for five or six hours I was in New York and all they had me saying was, ‘---- ‘em all, ---- ‘em all’. Like, that’s it.”

Fellow safety Devin McCourty, who spent his entire 13-year career in New England, felt the same way. “I felt like I got kinda duped. I thought this was going to be great the storytelling, talking about this, talking about that - everything that we all gave to the 20 years that it encompassed, they only hit anything that was negative," he said.

"Hey, we won at a high level and guys stayed there. I could have left two times, I signed back. There’s reasons why [we were so dominant."
