Tom Brady shows booth potential from Patriots glory with hours of research

Tom Brady is coming into his first year as a FOX Sports broadcaster very prepared .

Brady is entering the first year of a 10-year, $350 million deal to be part of the No. 1 NFL team, joining Kevin Burkhardt in the 2024 NFL season. In doing so, Brady is supplanting Greg Olsen , who fans grew to like because of his way of explaining the game and his unbiased approach to his commentary.

For Brady, he will be tasked with replacing Olsen with his own brand of insightful commentary. And it appears Brady will have an easier time adjusting to the transition from the field to the booth than most, thanks to the fact he has kept the playbook from every game he's ever played in his illustrious career.

In a recent video posted to social media, Brady revealed he has over 20 years' worth of notes at his disposal. "I basically kept every call sheet, scouting report from every game that I played, by season, in real-time," the seven-time Super Bowl champion said.

As he was talking, Brady pulled out a game from 2016, when the New England Patriots faced the Cleveland Browns. "You want to know why I picked 2016?" Brady posited. "My first game back at Cleveland, which happens to be my first game as a broadcaster. These were notes that I did based on plays I want to run."

The 47-year-old then added that while former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick wanted to keep the number of plays low, Brady estimated that he wanted to utilize over 90, with the total ending up at approximately 150 plays for the Browns game alone.

Each book also contained Belichick's notes as well as notes he kept regarding each player and the scouting report as a whole. Brady kept all the information intact because he believed it was worth saving, rather than disposing of it to save space.

"It's just good to keep track of all the information rather than throw it in a big bin and you don't know where it is," he continued. "I think for here, it's all organized really well and I think if I want to refer back to players or schemes or defensive coordinators, it's all here, basically.

"The guys still in the league. I'll do the same thing as a broadcaster. I'm going to store information going into the season. I'll be involved in football for a long time." When Brady was asked if he would have books spanning from 2001 (his debut) to 2040, the NFL legend stated: "Well, that'd be sick. That's a lot of years in the NFL."

And while Brady appears ready for the challenge of the booth, he will have restrictions placed on him , if he were also to become a part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Last week, news broke that Brady would have a specific set of rules that pertain only to him as he attempts to be a broadcaster and owner at the same time.

As such, Brady's access as a broadcaster will be extremely limited , if he is approved as a part owner of the Raiders. The restrictions include being barred from participating in in-person or online broadcast production meetings and being withheld access to team facilities, players or coaches.

It remains to be seen how the Raiders' sale will pan out. Since being reported in March of the sale, there has been little to no movement on that front, as 24 of the 32 owners would have to sign off on the sale.
