PlayStation players will be treated to iconic 2-bit mementos this month as Antstream Arcade is being made available on the console September 6 , granting access to old-timey side scrollers some older gamers may miss and other newer gamers may enjoy.

The service yields more than 1,300 retro games right to your PlayStation consoles, according to Game Rant . It's funny because these were the games that kids back then had to leave their house to play. Similar to the premium PlayStation Plus subscription, customers will get a catalog full of these flash-from-the-past type titles.

Antstream is all ready available on Xbox, costing players $40 for the annual subscription and $100 for lifetime access to all the arcade has to offer. The prices for the service isn't listed on the PlayStation store , but prices seem to be consistent across all platforms including Xbox, Epic Games, Google and IOS.

There's no indication Sony would jack up the price but its good to keep a lookout. The PlayStation version of Anstream was announced mid-August 2024 and is likely to become the first third-party cloud gaming service made available to Sony ponies.

Let's get to the games. Think of this service like Nintendo's NES classic mini, which brought back 80s gaming classics. The total amount of games an Antstream subscription will get you is 1,436, showcasing games from iconic systems: the SEGA Genesis, multiple generations of the Atari, the Gameboy and my personal favorite the PlayStation 1.

The announcement comes as Antstream Arcade celebrates the first anniversary of its launch on Xbox. The service has certainly touched most corners of gaming, initially being made for PC, the service has expanded to consoles, mobile devices and even Samsung Tvs.

The only uncovered base is Steam, which is a bit odd given the company started as a PC service. Antstream Arcade has been listed on Steam as "coming soon" since October 2022. The collab actually serves as a touching display of Antstream's commitment to preserve retro games amid the age of ultra-realistic graphics and an oversaturated industry.

Furthermore, its near-impossible to obtain classics nowadays for a reasonable price. The catalog is comprised of 358 Commodore 64 games. The second and third most-represented platforms are the ZX Spectrum and classic arcade machines with 351 and 293 games respectively.

The service expands periodically. Antstream used to have only two PS1 games but that has since expanded to eight.
