Target shopper vows to never shop there again over 'bad customer service' at self-checkouts

A Target shopper became enraged after an alleged self-checkout disaster as he said employees asked him to "shop somewhere else."

James Bredijk was first in line for the self- checkout machines at his local Target in Parsippany, New Jersey, just 30 miles west of New York City, when an employee came over and told him that he had to move to the cashier lines. It placed him behind 10 to 12 people.

Less than a minute later, he was asked to move back to the self-checkout registers as an employee opened them up.

"When I asked why they made us move, the guy tells me, 'I'm the manager, and I say they are open now.' When I commented about all of us losing our place in line, he dismissed it and walked away," the angry customer wrote in a Facebook post .

But it wasn't until his interaction with another employee that he decided that he will never shop at Target again. When he got back to the self-checkout registers, he said a different employee told him that they periodically close self-checkout registers because too many people steal from them.

The employee added that they were understaffed and that it was time for lunch, telling him that they deserved to have lunch, too. Bredijk added, "Then, she said, 'If you don't like it, go shop somewhere else.' So, I did. I emptied my shopping bag full of items on the floor and walked out."

"I realize that Target Parsippany is a small store with many empty shelves. But telling customers to go shop somewhere else is bad customer service no matter how you measure it," the New Jersey resident concluded.

Many people commented on his post praising Bredijk for his decision to walk out amid the way he was treated. In a reply to one such comment, he wrote, "I use this store only because it's close. I'll go to Foodtown or Shoprite or even Walmart for most things," he added.
