Anna Delvey needed permission to compete on Dancing With the Stars and must follow one strict rule

Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars contestants were announced, and many were surprised to see Anna Delvey on the list.

Inventing Anna star was partnered with newcomer pro Ezra Sos for the new season that is set to premiere on Tuesday, September 17 on ABC . Anna was the inspiration to the hit show on Netflix , Inventing Anna, which featured Julia Garner as Anna and Shonda Rhimes as the showrunner. According to reports, the impostor German heiress deceived several Manhattanites into giving her hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, goods and services.

Anna was released from prison in 2021 after serving four years and has since been on house arrest. She was granted permission from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) to be on the show.

In a video interview with The Hollywood Reporter , the interviewee wanted to "address the elephant in the room," which was Anna having an ankle monitor. Anna admitted that she would be competing on the show with it on and because it was light, it would not affect the way she performs on the show.

Ezra then asked the interviewee if she wanted to touch the ankle monitor and how it "gives 1 pound less." The three then realized that it was blinking and when asked what would happen, Ezra said: "You don't want to know what happens."

The pro dancer expressed his excitement to dance with Anna and for "America to actually see how she is." He added: "The media has seen a representation of her that I personally think is not her."

It was revealed on Wednesday morning on Good Morning Ameria that that NFL player Dwight Howard, The Bachelorette's Jenn Tran , The Bachelor's Joey Graziadei , 90201 star Tori Spelling, The Traitors star Phaedra Parks , Family Matters star Reginald VelJohnson, former NFL star Danny Amendola, Olympic rugby medalist Ilona Maher, Disney star Chandler Kinney, Actor Eric Roberts, former Sports Illustrated model Brooks Nader, and Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik were also going to compete this season.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough will once again return as the co-hosts. As for the panel of judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough are to return as well.
