1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton picks up Amy's children following West Tennessee arrest

Aunt Tammy Slaton came to her sister, Amy Slaton, children's rescue .

Amy was taken into custody on Monday, September 2 after police were called to West Tennessee Safari Park after complaints of a camel biting a visitor. She left the scene on a stretcher and was wheeled into an ambulance by EMS workers. Police ended up finding what they believed were "mushrooms and marijuana" after the smell of marijuana was coming from Amy's car.

The 1000-lb star was accompanied by her friend, Brian Lovvron, who was also arrested and both were charged with illegal possession of Schedule 1, illegal possession of Schedule VI and two counts of child endangerment. Both their bonds were set for $10,000.

The arrest comes after she finalized her divorce from Michael Halterman on September 6, 2023. Her ex-husband filed for divorce in March 2023 after four years of marriage and they share two sons, Gage Deon, 4, and Glenn Allen, 2.

Law enforcement confirmed to PEOPLE that Tammy picked up Amy's children after she was taken into custody. The source did not confirm if Tammy picked up the children at the zoo or later in the day at the Crockett County Sheriff's Office. It is not known if Amy was reunited with her children when she and Bryan were picked up by Amy’s brother, Chris Combs, and were seen "holding hands" leaving police custody, according to source.

Even though a photo of Amy's bite was released, the zoo's owner Jon Conley does not think that the bite came from a camel. The picture showed an open wound on her leg around her Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired tattoo. A good chunk of skin was missing and showed exposed bloody tissue. Scratches were also seen around the open area.

Jon saw the bite and believes that the wound was not from the camel. He said that there was no possible way for the camel to have been able to bite Amy and found it strange that injury did not show any bruised tissue. The open skin also means that it was not an animal bite, according to Jon.
