Linkin Park has something up their sleeve.

The rock band geared up to reveal a major announcement tonight on September 5 in front of a live audience in Los Angeles which was livestreamed. They announced that Emily is the band's new frontman as they also announced a new album and tour. The band has been on a hiatus ever since frontman Chester Bennington died by suicide in July 2017.

The band currently consists of surviving members Brad Delson, Mike Shinoda, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn. Original member Rob Bourdon is no longer apart of Linkin Park. At the start of their livestream, they came out and Mike started singing a new song, The Emptiness Machine. Emily Armstrong came out next and joined Mike in performing.

Emily comes from the band Dead Sara and will be the new frontwoman for the band. The Emptiness Machine is the lead single from their upcoming album called From Zero, coming out November 15. This is their first album since 2017’s One More Light which was their last album before the death of Chester.

Linkin Park will also go on a six-date arena tour in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota for this new release. The band also added another new member Colin Brittain as a drummer. Colin is a songwriter and producer for G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock.

Mike recently posted on his X Formerly Twitter page sharing details of the livestream and proving the official band's website link: "Don’t be late. Livestream tomorrow: 3pm PT at LinkinPark.com ." The link took fans to a landing page that showcased a livestream video with a countdown for September 5 at 6 pm ET. There was also a part underneath the countdown where fans could subscribe their email, phone and join a Discord server.

All of this comes before the band initially dropped a countdown on their social media accounts that also teased some major news on August 28. The post included the Linkin Park website which had the live countdown along with an email subscription box and a link to a My Community phone chat. But when the time came, fans were confused when it hit zero and an automatically recounted to this current date.

While fans were thinking they were being trolled, the band on X/Twitter reshared the countdown with the caption, "It's only a matter of time," as the clock glitched and reset. They included the link to the website once again.

Fans have been speculating that this countdown and event was a possible sign of new music and/or the nu-metal group coming together for a tour. It's been reported that the fans were are invited to come to the event were made to sign a waiver beforehand so no information would leak. The screenshot of the waiver is circulating around on Reddit which has lead to some fans theorizing this event is actually a music video shoot based on the waiver details.

There has also been rumors from back in May that the Numb performers were planning a tour next and were looking for a female lead vocalist to front the band.

It's just not the Linkin Park you know/grew up with. As they said in their interview, a chapter in their book is ending, but another is beginning. She, and the band, have the blessing of his family, that's the only thing that's really important. They KNOW she's not him, she's not trying to sing like him. I'm sure if you asked Chester if the band should die off or move in a other direction, he'd support this.
