Walmart customer left 'fuming' after 'ignorant' staff held him 'hostage' when buying a $344.09 TV

A furious Walmart customer has blasted the store for feeling like they held him 'hostage' after a TV purchase with his child turned sour due to a contentious receipt check policy that's riling up shoppers.

Senti Rasa, the aggrieved patron and a property investor, lashed out at what he called the 'very ignorant' Walmart staff, alleging discrimination.

On last Monday's shopping trip, Rasa secured a $344.09 television from Walmart. At the checkout station , a hiccup occurred the cashier needed help to disengage the TV's security device.

In a twist to their loss-prevention strategy, Walmart tweaks underwear policy.

Upon resolution, Rasa, aged 52, encountered another procedure; as he attempted an exit, he was halted by a door greeter demanding to see proof of purchase. "I asked what do you need to see my receipt for, I've already paid for it, you can ask the (cashier)," reported the Sri Lankan descent shopper, reports the Irish Star .

Despite his protests, he claimed, I kept walking and suddenly another greeter got in my face and was holding my trolley and said I wasn't leaving, holding me hostage," while sharing his ordeal in Orillia, Canada. Further confrontation ensued as the manager, backed by a handful of employees, approached insisting on a routine receipt checkmirroring Costcos method.

""Costco checks consistently," justified the manager. "Everybody gets checked, it doesn't matter if you are black, white, purple, or brown. "The manager reassured Rasa that all cashiers would be instructed to ask customers for their receipts before they leave the store.Walmart has sparked a debate with its new self-checkout change, which is already being tested.However, the Sri Lankan customer disputed this assertion. "None of those things happened," he said."

They were lying to my face because I've shopped at Walmart before with my wife and that's never happened.

"Rasa feels he was singled out for discrimination when he was asked to show his receipt, while other customers were not. "If they checked every single customer, I would gladly show my receipt and walk away," the property investor stated."

They randomly ran to me and asked to check my receipt, which shows that they are not educated and very ignorant. "Rasa argued that his attire at the time, a sweatshirt and dirty work trousers, should not have made him a target for staff scrutiny and it's not right to "judge a book by its cover.

""That's not how you provide customer service," he asserted. "They should never do that to anybody. It was an insult to my character, which bothers me the most.

"The Sri Lankan native, who moved to Canada when he was just 18, refuses to play the "race card", attributing the issue more to ignorance than to racism. "I wouldn't even call this racism, it's called ignorance. Discriminating a person based on how they dress, walk, or whatever it is - that's a problem.

"Rasa has filed a complaint with the head honchos at Walmart in Canada, specifying that he's not after a "looking for a free coupon," but aims to shake up company policy for better respect towards shoppers. He highlighted, "If somebody looks different, you don't run after them to say they are stealing,""Every customer should be treated equally and with respect. "Feeling aggrieved by his experience, the Sri Lankan man is determined to boycott Walmart moving forward. Recalling the incident, he said, "It was like I killed somebody and was running away.
