    James Earl Jones dead at 93: Voice of Star War's Darth Vader and Lion King's Mufasa passes away

    James Earl Jones, known for a decades long film career , has died at 93 years old.

    The actor known for his iconic voice work as Star Wars and Lion King has died, his reps at Independent Artist Group has confirmed to Deadline. He passed away on Monday morning at his home in Duchess County, New York.

    The revered actor has had a decades-long career in Hollywood . Aside from voicing iconic characters like Darth Vader and Mufasa, he is also best known for his role in Field of Dreams.

    Additionally, James achieved the rare feat of becoming an EGOT - winning Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards. He has won two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award and Tony Award. While he didn't win an Oscar for a particular role, he did earn the Honorary Academy Award which counts towards his EGOT status.

    He is also the voice of CNN. His voice is the iconic one that reads, "This is CNN" at the start of each news program.

    Mark Hamill, who starred as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, has written a succinct yet heartwarming tribute to the late actor. "#RIP dad," he tweeted.

    Actor Colman Domingo also paid tribute with a heartfelt tweet. He wrote: "Thank you dear James Earl Jones for everything. A master of our craft. We stand on your shoulders. Rest now. You gave us your best."

    Fans are beside themselves as they mourn the loss of the beloved actor on X, formerly known as Twitter.

    "Rest in peace, James Earl Jones. One of the most powerful, evocative, emotional voices in cinema history. This is the first scene that came to mind, it’s one of my favorites of all time," one wrote. "rip james earl jones he brought so much heart and soul to so many movies that i grew up loving i am devastated," another penned.

    "Generational. Transcendent. Wonderful. James Earl Jones was more than an actor. He enthralled generations with his talent & his iconic voice from Broadway to the big screen for decades. Gone from us today at age 93. And we will never see his like again," a third wrote.

    James Earl Jones has starred in over 200 films in his 60-year career including Conan the Barbarian, Coming to America, The Sandlot and The Great White Hope film adaption - which he was nominated for an Oscar for. He was also renowned for his work on the stages in plays like The Great White Hope stageplay - which came before the film - and Fences.

    James Earl Jones was married twice. He wed Julienne Marie in 1968, but the two divorced four years later. He later married Cecilia Hart in 1982 and remained together until she passed away from ovarian cancer in 2016. He is survived by his son Flynn Earl Jones, 42.
