A large family got into a tiny SUV, according to the investigators, and they drove to a nearby park before coming home between 2:30 and 2:30 p.m. Just before 5 p.m., the family examined the car after realizing the 4-year-old was gone a few hours earlier. “Calls like these are difficult for everyone involved: the families, the first responders and the community. Nobody wants to hear this news,” said Buckeye Police Public Information Officer Carissa Planalp. “In this extreme heat, temperatures are nothing to play with, and time is absolutely of the essence.”

The girl was discovered in a car with a temperature inside of 130 degrees, according to police, and the outside temperature was 107 degrees. In order to compile a timeline of events, detectives are interviewing the family. Nobody is being held or arrested. Based on data from Kids and Car Safety, this is the third child hot car death in Arizona this year and the 31st nationwide.

In July, a two-year-old girl in died after her father abandoned her in a sweltering car during the state's triple-digit temperatures.

The two-year-old was purposefully left in the car by the father when he returned home from running errands with his daughter one afternoon, according to Marana Police Capt. Tim Brunenkant. According to Brunenkant, he left the air conditioner on and the car running.

The father went inside, and when he came out of the home about 30 to 60 minutes later, the automobile was turned off, according to Brunenkant. The police captain said the father contacted 911 because the two-year-old was not responding. According to the police, she was transferred to a hospital and later declared dead.

At one point, the temperature in Marana rose to an intense 111 degrees. Marana is located close outside of Tucson, where there is a warning in effect for extreme heat. The loss of life was referred to by Brunenkant as a "heat-related tragedy." According to KidsAndCars.org, at least 1,093 children died in overheated cars since 1990, with 3 years old or younger accounting for around 88% of these deaths.

So many of these. Too many parents are on drugs these days. Drugs (alcohol included) permeate our society through doctors legally, dispensaries, and on the streets illegally. Then there's pot. It's been legal in many states for a while now. I'm not against mmj, but we adults need to be more responsible. These are little human beings being murdered due to pure negligence.

Try to imagine her freaking out and becoming disoriented from the sweltering and humid heat in the car. She reaches down to unbuckle the seat belt but it's so hot that it burns her little fingers. She's SCREAMING but no one can hear. Meanwhile sweat pours down her little forehead. She looks to the sky and asks God for help. "WHERE'S MY MOMMY!?" She starts kicking and screaming but the SUN is BEAMING directly into her eyes. "MAKE IT STOP!!!"
