The second and final trailer for the Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story limited series is here.

Netflix released another trailer for the highly anticipated second installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series following Dahmer. The ten-episode show is set to stream on September 19. The story follows the highly-publicized real life case of two brothers who were convicted in 1996 of murdering their parents José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez.

During the 1993 trial, the prosecution declared the siblings did the deed to inherit their family fortune while the brother claimed their action was a result of a lifetime of alleged physical, emotional, and sexual abuse they experienced from their parents. To this day as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole, they sill maintain that claim.

The trailer starts with Javier Bardem as José talking to Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Lyle in a hauntingly tense exchange outside in what looks like a cemetery. José compares Lyle to a dog who "misbehaves" as he tells the anecdote about their first dog and how he got the dog a spiked collar which only hurts when said dog "disobeys." Jose then says: “I think that I didn’t hit you hard enough,” as it cuts to a scene of him slapping Lyle in the face. He continues with, "So as a father, that is my fault. And I’m sorry," as he kisses his son's cheek.

Next, the trailer shows Chloe Sevigny as Kitty's voiceover admitting she "hates" her kids and calls them "parasites." She says: "They’ve turned us into people we don’t want to be." She went on, stating, "And I regret having you" which flashed to Cooper Koch's Erik telling her, she can't say that. Kitty told him to shut up and then a man who appeared to be a therapist admonished her to which she responded to the boys: "I could have been a movie star like Kim Novak. And you’re what I got?”

The trailer continues with a myriad of scenes of the parents, the brothers holding shotguns and being arrested. Erik says at one point: "I was always going to choose my relationship with my brother over my parents." There's an appearance by Ari Graynor who plays Leslie Abramson, Erik's defense attorney, saying: "I see what happens when kids don't get the nurturing they need."

Fans took to social media to express their feelings about the true crime story. Some expressed excitement while others had reservations on how Ryan will tell this story. On X formerly Twitter one fan said: "Counting down the days until the premiere! The Menendez brothers' story is chilling." A second fan said: "LAW AND CRIME- It does not getting any better than this Story." A fourth fan said: "i’m willing to give the new season of monsters a chance but i have very little hope in ryan’s ability to respectfully tell lyle and erik’s story."

This comes as many fans bashed the previous teaser trailer for what they dubbed were 'incestous' undertones as the brothers were seen shirtless hugging. One fan said: "Ryan Murphy’s ability to sexualise monsters needs to be studied. You wouldn’t believe this is about two brothers killing their parents cause what the f--k is this for promo?"
