Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has addressed the controversial detainment of Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill.

On Sunday, Hill was pulled over and detained by Miami-Dade Police outside of Hard Rock Stadium ahead of the Dolphins’ 20-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars . Newly released bodycam footage shared on social media shows several officers approaching his car and immediately identifying the 30-year-old, but tensions began to boil over when he attempts to roll up his window.

After asking Hill several times to keep his window down, one officer decided to remove the receiver from the vehicle. Another official promptly came over and whipped open the door before pulling him out of the vehicle by the back of his neck.

Moments later, Hill was escorted to the sidewalk and asked to sit down but momentarily refused citing recent surgery. The same officer that pulled him out of the car subsequently wrapped an arm around him and forcefully took him down, adding: “Did you have surgery on your ears when we told you to put your window down?”

Hill later suited up for Miami and scored a stunning 80-yard touchdown, sensationally celebrated by having teammate Jaylen Waddle mimic arresting and placing handcuffs on the receiver. On his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason, Kelce insisted Hill was fired up as a result of his pregame ordeal.

“I was watching that Miami Dolphins game just waiting for Tyreek Hill to go for 300 yards and five touchdowns knowing what happened earlier in the day,” Kelce said in the episode, which was released on Wednesday. “And sure enough, finally in the fourth quarter when I think Jacksonville had just fumbled the ball, literally the next play they go up top to Tyreek Hill and he has this fun touchdown celebration... you can lock me up all you want, baby!”

NFL fans were stunned by the bodycam footage of Hill being handcuffed and restrained. Miami-Dade Police Department Director Stephanie V. Daniels announced that 105 minutes of body cam footage were released "In our commitment to transparency and maintaining public trust.”

One of the officers involved in the incident - later named as veteran officer Danny Torres - has been placed on administrative leave amid an investigation by the Miami-Dade Police Department. Hill’s Dolphins teammate Jalen Ramsey fumed online at the footage, taking to X to post: “FIRE EM IMMEDIATELY! Mfs like them can’t have no type of power, they gotta go!”

On Monday night, the Dolphins described the bodycam video as “maddening and heartbreaking”. The AFC East franchise vowed to stand with Hill and called for “swift and strong action” against the officers guilty of “violent” and “despicable” behavior.

Then on Tuesday, police citations claimed Hill was stopped because he was believed to be driving 60mph - without wearing a seatbelt. He was fined a combined total of $308.

Ask the Chicago cops that Dexter Reed shot through his tinted windows why having tinted windows rolled down is important.
