Chappell Roan appeared to get in a tense back and forth with a photographer on the MTV VMAs red carpet on Wednesday night.

Dressed for the occasion, Chappell strutted down the black carpet in an eye-catching seemingly Game of Thrones-themed ensemble, which she accessorized with a large sword. As her team was adjusting her dress, a person appeared to blurt out "Shut the f--k up." After hearing the remark, the chart-topping songstress pointed at someone and yelled, "You shut the f--k up!"

What the person said next isn't clear, but Chappell saying, "No! Not me b- - -h," was heard loud and clear.

Fans had a lot to say about the singer's reaction on X, formerly Twitter. One wrote on the platform, "It's been two minutes and she's already complaining," meanwhile, another commented: "Why is she already mad?" Someone else chimed in, "So annoying." As another agreed, "Unprofessional." Among those criticizing Chappell, there were some who found her to be "in the right."

One admitted: "You could never make me hate her," and another commented, "Chappell was in the right." A third person raved, "Love seeing her defend herself." The Casual crooner brought her fashion A-game to the awards show, looking stylish in her low cut black and sheer dress, which she donned with gloves and sharp long nails. Over the dress was a large green cloak.

Chappell pulled her look together with a large black cross necklace, a face full of makeup as she styled her hair in a ponytail with her bangs. Fans couldn't seem to get enough of her look.

"Chappell Roan looks stunning on the #vmas carpet," one person praised on X. Another complimented, "Dramatic! Love this." One other person expressed, "A SWORD ?????? I LOVE THAT SO MUCH OMG."

The pop star is nominated for Best New Artist along with fellow music stars Tyla, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims, Gracie Abrams, and Benson Boone. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is hosting this year's VMAs. Megan will have double duty as a host and nominee, since she is up for five awards including best collaboration with fellow rapper and tour-mate GloRilla and best hip-hop. She won her first VMA five years ago for best power anthem with her hit song Hot Girl Summer. After that she went on to win another VMA for best hip-hop in 2020 for Savage and a plethora of other awards such as three Grammys.
