Jeopardy! fans were left confused as they questioned a contestant's buzzer stance .

The trivia game show returned after its summer hiatus , introducing viewers at home to new contestants . On the Tuesday, September 10 episode of the new season, Mary Catherine French, a writer, editor and research assistant from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Will Weiss, a technical program manager from Islip, New York, faced the returning champion, the naval officer from San Diego, California, Adam Reiffen.

Viewers at home quickly noticed something about Will's stance that distracted them from what was going on in the game . The contestant would hold the buzzer while crossing his hands over each other, looking like he was in handcuffs.

Fans commented on his stance on X, with one person writing: "Does the way this guy Will crosses his arms and holds the buzzer on Jeopardy infuriate anyone else or just me?" Another person wrote: "Will has quite the buzzer stance [grinning face with sweat emoji] #Jeopardy." A third person wrote: "Oh dear, Will's in handcuffs." A fourth wrote: "Perhaps during the break, someone will find the key to Will's handcuffs."

On Reddit, a person said: "I love when someone takes an innovative but smart approach to buzzing technique, and Will's crossed wrists is a unique twist on Fritz Holznagel's advice to provide support to your buzzing arm to prevent your whole arm from moving."

Someone replied: "Petition to call Will's buzzer technique 'Gangnam Style.'" Though he remained quiet about how he approached the buzzer, Will ended up winning the episode with $14,000 and also disclosed that he was able to compete on the show two decades prior. He told Ken Jennings that twenty years ago, he "qualified and was eligible to be on during the season" when Ken was making history but second guessed himself.

Ken asked: "So, were you waiting for that call, or were you hoping to not get that call?" Will replied: "I was and thinking about your run, would I have been competitive? I like to think that I would have been competitive, but I don't know that I would have appreciated the experience the way that I do now."
