Thierry Henry has decided to continue his tenure with CBS after stepping down as France Under-21 coach following the Paris Olympics .

The former Arsenal , Barcelona and New York Red Bulls icon took the reins of the Under-21 team in August of the previous year and has led the Olympics side to a silver medal. In the gold medal match, France was beaten 5-3 by Spain after extra time, marking Henry's final appearance in the national team setup.

Henry won four out of his six games in charge but cited 'personal reasons' for his departure, choosing not to elaborate further. His exit sparked concerns that he would not return to CBS Sports' Champions League coverage. However, these fears have been quashed with the network confirming that the Frenchman will continue his role as an analyst on the show.

Henry will continue to appear on the 'Champions League Today' show, hosted by Kate Abdo and featuring pundits Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards, for this season, according to L'Equipe . Ahead of the first round of European action, Henry expressed strong criticism of the competition's new format, which requires teams to play two additional games in the new league setup compared to the previous group stage system.

As quoted by The Athletic , Henry stated: "I think that for us, for CBS, it is simply exceptional to be able to talk about more matches. But there is a 'but' for me, because I will side with the coach. Too many matches. As a former player, I don't know how these guys do it. As a consultant, I love it. But as a former player and as a coach, it's too much."

The French Football Federation announced Henry's departure from the national team in a statement, where the 123-time France international expressed his gratitude: "I would like to thank the FFF and the president Philippe Diallo who offered me this incredible opportunity."

"Winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games for my country will remain one of the greatest prides of my life. I am incredibly grateful to the federation, the players, the staff and the supporters who allowed me to live a magical experience."

After the Olympic final loss, Henry pointed out the lack of focus from his team as the key reason for not securing gold, he said: "There were a few minutes during the first half in which we disappeared and we paid a high price for that. Then we were able to recover and get back in the game. It wasn't easy to build this team up, but I'm proud of the work we did."
