NFL told to retire Tua Tagovailoa if Miami Dolphins quarterback doesn't stop himself

Shannon Sharpe has called on Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to put his health first and retire after suffering another concussion. While Dez Bryant went one further and demanded the NFL make the decision for him.

In the third quarter in the 31-10 defeat to the Buffalo Bills , Tagovailoa tucked the ball and scrambled up the middle on fourth-and-four, and just as he crossed the first down line, he crashed hard into the chest of Bills safety Damar Hamlin .

Tagovailoa's neck whipped back after making contact with Hamlin, and the 26-year-old crashed to the turf and showed worrying signs with hand movements. Just six minutes after leaving the field and heading back to the locker room, Tagovailoa was diagnosed with a concussion and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Tagovailoa has a worrying history of concussions, with three confirmed cases coming in the NFL since he entered the league in 2020. The QB even admitted after the previous cases of concussion that he had mulled over retirement.

Now, he's facing widespread calls to put his family and health first and walk away from football. "Really hope Tua is ok, but he’s gotta seriously think about shutting it dwn. I H8 saying this. His concussions are getting worse and worse and he’s a young man with his entire life ahead of him," NFL legend Sharpe said on X.

Former NFL player Bryant demanded the NFL take matters into its own hands. "That’s it," he posted on X. "NFL go ahead and do the right thing Tua has had entirely way too many concussions He need to retire for his longevity health concerns."

Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez said on Prime Video's postgame show: "I'm thinking retirement here. To me, it seems like a no-brainer. The brain, this is something that can affect you long-term. ... For me, it's time to move on."

"Tua gets 93M no questions asked and probably 167M if he has to retire due to injury," football pundit Nick Wright added. "He fought back from absolutely horrifying concussions to lead the league in passing and earn that contract from the Dolphins. He has to really consider hanging it up after tonight."

The Dolphins and Tua have ten days before their next NFL outing, an away game at the Seattle Seahawks. Miami would have been hoping Tagovailoa could play that game but the league's concussion protocol could rule him out of action.

"Right now, [it] is more about getting a proper procedural evaluation and taking it one day at a time," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said after the game. The furthest thing from my mind is what is the timeline. We just need to evaluate and just worry about my teammate. ... We'll get more information [Friday] and then take it day by day from there."

How in the hell they would give that much guaranteed money to a guy that snaps like a twig ?This is entirely on the Dolphins for thinking this guy is a good quarterback and a good risk

IMO, he pushed his luck last season.. He's only 26.... the damage from these hits will come later as he ages. If he's fortunate, he won't show signs of brain deficiency functions. I hope he thinks all these things over and puts his health and family first.
