Daniel Seavey shades Matty Healy at the VMAs after viral Lollapalooza kiss video

Daniel Seavey cleared up what really went down when he planted a kiss on a Lollaplooza attendee during his performance.

The former Why Don't We boybander stripped down shirtless during his performance of The Older You Get, jumping off the stage before running up to the barricade. After singing to a girl in the crowd, he leaned down to give her a very passionate kiss. However, the star explained to The Mirror that it was a total stunt.

He said on the VMAs red carpet: "It was very planned. That is, just so people know, that was my girlfriend. A lot of fans who didn't catch it at first were pretty angry."

The American Idol alum went on to throw some shade at the direction of a pretty controversial alternative pop artist who does a lot of smooching at his own shows. Daniel said: "[Kissing a fan] would have been pretty outrageous of me. Very Matty Healy of me, but no, that's my girlfriend."

Matty, the lead singer of The 1975, controversially incorporated a bit into his live concert where he kissed fans. He restarted the tradition in 2022, which was a callback to the mid-2010s while performing Robbers in Las Vegas when he made out with a female fan after dancing with her. Matty did the same the following day with a man at his San Diego show.

The girl, Isabella, wanted to make it clear to the world that it was a consensual moment. She wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "On a real note I do want to state some facts before we get any farther, I had this on my phone because he mentioned at some point 'I can only make out with you,' So I did this, he saw it and brought me up, HE ASKED before he kissed me! Also I’m a grown age of 24."

There are no signs of Daniel cheating any time soon, especially since he's prone to making love dovey TikTok videos about his girlfriend, Katia Castellano. However, he isn't afraid to get up close and personal with his fans, as he once performed at the barricade of one show with a friend singing along.

The star is known for his down-to-earth attitude and connection with his supporters. On Sept. 12, he even invited fans for a very special meet up in Washington Square Park where he performed a few songs and took pictures with every person who turned up.
