USMNT's newly appointed head coach, Mauricio Pochettino , touched down in New York City to deliver his first official press conference since assuming the new role.

The former Tottenham and Chelsea boss met with the New York media at Warner Bros. Discovery Hudson Center and explained what made him take the USMNT job in the first place, as many top La Liga teams looked to earn his signature.

In a sharply tailored suit and an entourage of assistants, Pochettino answered simply: "Too many reasons, it's a great opportunity for us. Because we really believe we can do something good while working in a good environment.

"If you had to ask me 'to pick one reason [for the decision], it would be because we believe that we work together to achieve things. To win games, go for big trophies and complete in Copa Americas. For the players and fans to realize a dream."

Another action to entice Pochettino was Team USA ''s young core of 25 or younger players who can deliver a 2026 World Cup. Pochettino has a chance to win the first World Cup in American men's history and do it as a host nation to make the deal even sweeter.

Several top players on the USMNT roster, including team captain Christian Pulisic , have already delivered their verdict on working with the new manager. While both Pulisic and Pochettino share past ties with Chelsea, the American forward left for current club, AC Milan, before the Argentine manager's arrival.

"When someone new comes in, it gives us an extra push and makes people say 'You know what? I need to show a little bit extra and make a good first impression.' It's always important," said the Pulisic, who was nicknamed "Captain America" for his impact on the team.

"I've gone through a lot of changes in my career," he continued. "I think [the move] can change the mentality and a little bit of the culture within the club. Hopefully it's going to be positive."

USMNT defensive midfielder Chris Richards joined Crystal Palace in 2022 and has faced the new US manager several times in matches against Chelsea. He identified Pochettino as "difficult to play against" while expressing excitement for his arrival.

Team USA has international friendlies scheduled against Panama and Mexico in October. Panama previously defeated the USMNT 2-1, with the USA earning a red card and an earlier exit than expected during the Copa America tournament.
