Despite parting ways with the Kansas City Chiefs , Louis Rees-Zammit has proven that he still cares for his former team.

In an Instagram story posted in the early hours of last Friday morning, Rees-Zammit shared a snapshot of himself watching the Chiefs' season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Chiefs clinched their first victory of the season, overcoming the Ravens 27-20. Pop sensation Taylor Swift , who is dating Chiefs' star Travis Kelce , was present at the game, enjoying it alongside her in-laws. Isiah Pacheco, known for mentoring Rees-Zammit during pre-season, scored a touchdown after half-time.

Xavier Worthy, who clocked the fastest ever 40-yard dash at a combine earlier this year, marked his debut with two touchdowns. Worthy was signed along with Rees-Zammit before the pre-season kicked off, reports Wales Online .

Despite signing a three-year contract worth £2.24m with the Chiefs, Rees-Zammit was unexpectedly omitted from both the Chiefs' 53-man active roster and their practice squad. This came as a shock to many, as it was widely assumed that the Welshman would have at least made the practice squad.

After being released by the Chiefs, Rees-Zammit signed a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars to join the team's practice squad, though he's yet to make a gameday roster. Having initially been a running back with the Chiefs, Rees-Zammit has now pivoted to become a wide receiver with the Jaguars.

The 23 year old athlete opened up to BBC Sport about his indifference to the critics following his recent transfer, saying, "I don't really care about haters," and "They can say what they want behind their phones, behind their laptops making comments."

He continued, "I don't listen to that kind of stuff. I know what I've got to do to be successful and they can write all they want."

He concluded with a statement of determination, "I'm working really hard on this dream and I've got to try and do as much as I can every day to be a better football player and a better person."
