Rob McElhenney and Eli Manning join forces to deliver perfect Super Bowl dig to Tom Brady

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney summoned Eli Manning for a joke ahead of Monday's League One clash between his side and Birmingham. The Blues are partly owned by Brady , who was defeated by Manning twice in the Super Bowl .

McElhenney went on X to repost a split of two photos from the club of Eli donning their red shirt while pointing at the team's dragon crest. The caption for the post jokingly read: "We are honored that Eli Manning has coincidentally (because Co-chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan begged him) joined the Wrexham fanbase, just in time for our match over at Tom Brady's Birmingham on Monday night."

The Wrexham co-owner retweeted the photo to his account of 1.1 million followers, captioning it: "Tom, I’m sure we both see this face in our nightmares, but I’m starting to like him." Reynolds also posted the photo, saying that the images hit "right in the landing zone" of the club's social media presence.

Manning also reacted to the post and wrote: "Now I can beat Tom Brady in football and futbol. Go Wrexham." Birmingham has established the upper hand over Wrexham in 10 games since 1928, with five games won and two draws. Wrexham has only beaten Birmingham twice: once in a 1979 Division Two clash and in 1997 with a 3-1 win during the FA Cup.

While the club's supporters well received the lighthearted banter, Brady has yet to comment on the joke. While the seven-time Super Bowl winner has a 2-1 advantage over Eli in the regular season, Manning is 2-0 against Brady in the Playoffs, leading to Super Bowl championships in 2008 and 2012.

Their on-field rivalry has been a staple of pop culture since Manning's second Super Bowl win that spoiled Bill Belichick's perfect season . New England defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round and the team formerly known as the San Diego Chargers in the Conference Championship.

Fans billed Manning as Brady's kryptonite online, seemingly unable to piece together how he always found a way to beat the Patriots. New England scored at least 34 points per game through the first eight weeks of the season, including a 52-7 win over the Washington Commanders. Yet, the team had its lowest point total of the year in the 17-14 Super Bowl loss.

Eli has joked about his dominance over Brady online throughout the years. Even when telling why he wasn't featured on Netflx's live roast of Tom Brady , Manning responded: "I thought about attending the Roast of Tom Brady last night, but I did not want to Roast him for a 3rd time!"
