The 2024 LIV Golf season inches towards its conclusion with the top two of Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann the only two players left in contention for the overall crown .

The pair will square for the giant purse at the Bolingbrook Golf Club in Chicago, Illinois this weekend as the LIV Individual season comes to a close.

The prize money for LIV Golf Chicago is typical of any LIV event - there's a total purse of $25 million. $4 million goes to the winner, followed by $2.25 million for second place, $1.5 million for third, $1 million for fourth, and $800,000 for fifth place.

Rahm has one win on the season but has not finished outside the top 10 and has a score of 195.17. Niemann has two victories on the tour this year and holds a score of 192, comfortably ahead of third-place Tyrrell Hatton by almost 50 points.

Teams also get paid for performing well - Crushers GC is atop the LIV Team standings thanks to strong performances from Bryson DeChambeau. The winning team at LIV Golf Chicago is set to make $3 million, followed by $1.5 million for second place, and $500,000 for third.

What's the overall prize for winning the 2024 LIV Golf season? The league champion is set to earn an additional $18 million. This figure was taken home by both 2023 champion Talor Gooch and 2022 winner Dustin Johnson. The winner is also set to receive a diamond championship ring akin to the one NBA or NFL players get for winning their league titles.

The ring features 5.78 carats of white diamonds and 1.2 carats of green emeralds. "I’m trying to picture what it looks like right now, and I can’t get that in my mind," Rahm said about the ring. "But honestly, who cares what it is as long as you’re the one that has it?"

"That’s, I think, what most of us will be thinking. I think you would be lying to yourself if you said there’s nothing extra. We’re all aware it’s the last event, and for the two of us, obviously, we both want to win."

"Probably my wife won’t be happy knowing that my ring would have more [diamonds]," Niemann quipped about the ring. "No, I feel it’s pretty special. It’s a little different than other trophies, so it would be pretty cool to have an extra ring.”

While Rahm and Niemann are the only two players in contention for the LIV title, there are others still playing to finish as high as possible. Tyrell Hatton (third), Sergio Garcia (fourth), and Louis Oosthuizen (fifth) round out the top-five.

Further prize money will be on the table when the golfers turn their attention to LIV's final event of the season: the LIV Golf Team Championship in Dallas at the Maridoe Golf Club next weekend.
