'I'm the only person to coach Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark - this is how they compare'

Women's basketball legend Cheryl Miller is the only coach who got to work with both Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese on the same team, as she took charge of Team WNBA against Team USA in the All-Star game.

Miller, 60, had both of the rookies on her roster, with both possession unique and lethal on-court skillsets. This season, Reese , 22, has been a rebounding machine for the Chicago Sky, becoming the all-time leader in single-season total rebounds (446) and offensive rebounds (172), surpassing Sylvia Fowles on Sept. 2 against the Minnesota Lynx .

Clark , meanwhile, has unsurprisingly been pivotal in the Indiana Fever reaching the postseason with her three-point shooting and assists. The duo have been on-court rivals dating back to their college days and must-see clashes between the LSU Tigers and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Reese and LSU won the national championship against Clark and the Hawkeyes in 2023 - but the latter got revenge earlier this year by knocking them out in Iowa's run to a second-consecutive national championship game. However, Miller says the narrative between Reese and Clark is not how it is portrayed.

"Those two being on the floor shattered whatever narrative people were trying to push," Miller said to The Mark Jackson Show . "(There's) no animosity. I mean, it was fun while it lasted.

"But, all they want to do is win. And seeing them interact off the court and shoot around and everything else, it was fun. It was a lot of fun, guys. And it was such a blessing to be a part of it."

Miller also likened Reese to NBA great Dennis Rodman, who like the WNBA star, was exceptional at rebounding. "Angel Reese, guys, I don't know how she does it," she said.

"She doesn't jump out the gym. She's not like your 6'6", 6'5", which gives her a height advantage, a length advantage. So it has to be here. It has to be here because I've never seen someone offensively rebound better than her, better than her.

"And she reminds me of that mentality of Dennis Rodman. Anything around the rim, loose around there, she's going to get, she's going to find a way. She just, and they used to call, you know, he has a nose for the ball. No, it's just something in them that every loose ball, they going to find a way. Runs the floor, great hands, understanding."

Both Clark and Reese will be the top two candidates for WNBA Rookie of the Year. However, Reese's season has come to an end following a wrist injury.
