Manning famously beat Brady twice in the Super Bowl for his Lombardi Trophy triumphs, and both Wrexham and the 43-year-old did not waste the chance to troll the former New England Patriots superstar.
Posting two pictures of Manning posing in a Wrexham jersey, the club's X account added: "We are honored that Eli Manning has coincidentally, (because co-chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds begged him) joined the Wrexham fanbase, just in time for our match over at Tom Brady's Birmingham City on Monday night."
Manning – no stranger to making jokes at his former rival's expense – added: "Now I can beat Tom Brady in football and fútbol! Go Wrexham!"
Brady took time to consider his responses before posting his comeback on X on Saturday. Donning a Birmingham sweater, Brady said in a video: "I've been working on a little response video to Eli and I'm looking around the house, but I can't find the other six of these," as he held one of his seven Lombardi Trophies aloft.
"Rob, can you educate the Wrexham fans just a little bit on the history of the NFL? Thanks, bud, appreciate y'all. I'll see you Monday."
The Birmingham City X account also offered a comeback, telling Manning he was not on the same level as his brother, two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton.
"As we say in Birmingham, El iManning – WHO! Tom Brady – not just the GOAT, also the best in his family. Levels to this," the post read.
Wrexham sat top of the League One table ahead of Saturday's games, with 13 points on the board. Birmingham started the day in fourth place with 10 points from four games.
Wrexham's strong start to the season has seen Phil Parkinson win the League One Manager of the Month award for August. He said: “It’s great to get the award, for myself but more importantly for everybody; the players, and all the staff – and I mean all the staff, because everybody contributes.
“We can congratulate ourselves on it, but it is just the first month of the season and we know that and there’s so much more work to be done.
“But we’re really enjoying being in this division. You can sense it – there’s a great anticipation on the training ground every day, and a competitive edge in the way we’re going about our business.”
no, It will be Tom Brady, the goat, nothing about him. Shady, you just jealous of a hater because what I want to cry because I haven't been nowhere. Eli Manning might have got two rings over Brady. That's all they got, and that's all the team ever got. The Goat 🐐
