Bryce Young sent clear message as Carolina Panthers struggles continue

Carolina Panthers fans could be heard booing quarterback Bryce Young who continues to struggle in his second year in the league while throwing for less than 100 yards in another humiliating defeat.

The Panthers lost 27-3 to the Los Angeles Chargers with Young completing 18-of-26 passes for just 84 yards with no touchdowns and an interception with Carolina fans making themselves heard throughout the game. On a number of failed third downs and on Young's incompletion, boos rang around the stadium with many losing their patience in the former number-one overall draft pick .

The Panthers spent multiple draft picks to acquire Young, including one selection that gave the Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams while trading away star receiver DJ Moore.

But since bringing in Young, the former national championship and Heisman Trophy winner has struggled mightily, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns while continuing to make mistakes now into his second season.

Some Panthers fans have begun to ask questions of new head coach Dave Canales, with many already wanting to see Young benched for veteran Andy Dalton. Speaking to reporters after the loss, Canales said: "Bryce is our quarterback. I'd love to see this thing just continue to take the next steps offensively right now."

He then added when asked again: "Bryce is our quarterback. We're gonna just continue to shore up and fix the things we need to—fundamentally, from a scheme standpoint, all those things. These are all valuable reps, these are all valuable games, we'll learn a lot from this game and hopefully we'll take another step this week."

Carolina will face the Las Vegas Raiders next week, where they will not be favored to win once again with Young needing to put in an good performance to answer his critics.

One Panthers fan tweeted: "I have seen enough. We made a mistake," while another said: "Get Andy Dalton in the game. We can't even move the ball with this quarterback," as a third said: "This is just sad. Young is just making such poor reads here. He does not look ready and idk if we ever will."
