Fans weren't thrilled with how The Bear won big at the Emmys .

The Academy popped the show into the comedy category when it came to the prestigious award show, but fans didn't agree. When they started dishing out the awards and The Bear was taking center stage, fans' rage immediately came out. One fan on X, formerly known as Twitter , argued: "The Bear is not a comedy show idk why they keep getting away with category fraud every year."

While the show saw success at the Emmys, Ayo Edebiri did not secure a win, despite her nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Sydney Adamu. "how are you going to rob Ayo Edebiri from her Emmy on independence day like," one fan posted. Another added: "I was so sure Ayo Edebiri would go home with her second Emmy Award I feel very humbled."

They felt that the loss was inconsistent with the Emmy love that the rest of the cast were receiving. One said: "How did every single cast member from The Bear (that was nominated) EXCEPT Ayo win… that’s crazy."

Eugene Levy, who opened the show with a monologue, made light of the controversial situation when it comes to categorizing the show. He said: "I know some of you might be expecting us to make a joke about whether The Bear is really a comedy...but in the true spirit of The Bear we will not be making any jokes."

As for the other awards, Jeremy Allen White won Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Liza Colón-Zayas won her first Emmy, accepting Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series with an emotional speech. Ebon Moss-Bachrach snagged the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

The award show was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, September 15. This was the first time in Emmy history that a father-and-son duo, Eugene and Dan Levy , host the show.

The FX network led the nomination as their hit samurai show Shogun was nominated with 25 total nominations. Following The Bear with 23 nominees. Season two of The Bear now surpassed the Emmy record held by NBC’s 30 Rock since 2009 with 22. The show was also nominated for lead comedy actor (Jeremy Allen White), lead comedy actress (Ayo Edebiri), supporting comedy actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Lionel Boyce), supporting comedy actress (Liza Colón-Zayas), directing (Storer for Fishes and Ramy Youssef for Honeydew TK) and writing (Fishes by Joanna Calo and Storer).
