Jim Harbaugh shows what kind of coach he is with reaction to Justin Herbert mistake

Jim Harbaugh confused Justin Herbert last week in an awkward moment after hitting his pads .

The quarterback went in for a hug and seemed unsure with what his head coach was attempting. Harbaugh wanted to hit his Los Angeles Chargers quarterback's pads to prepare him for hits - something players regularly do with each other before the game.

The awkward moment was caught on film, with cameras following them once again this week. Herbert was more prepared this time while smiling as Harbaugh hit down on his pads. After the incident last week, Herbert said: "I thought it was a moment to like, 'Hey, let's go get this.' Dap up... But he hit me a couple times, and I thought that was it. And then he kept going back for more. I'll be much better the next time."

Harbaugh, who regularly wears a smile on his face on the sideline, seemed to be enjoying himself while seeing his Chargers moving to a 2-0 start with his players giving him a ringing endorsement. After Harbaugh spoke glowingly on his running back JK Dobbins' impressive game, the player retweeted a video of him saying: "Love him man, glad he’s my coach!"

The Chargers have endured a tough few seasons in recent years while being considered a strong roster and going on to disappoint. But the team looks to be in a good position this term, despite losing some key players.

Los Angeles lost both of its star wide receivers in Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, with the team seeing former first-round flop Quintin Johnston step up with two touchdowns in the win. The Chargers face two tough tasks in successive weeks, going on the road against the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers before hosting Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Herbert suffered a leg injury during Sunday's game and insisted he would know more about the severity of the complaint "in the coming days".

Harbaugh said of Herbert on Sunday: "I think he reminded everybody that he's one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League."
