Hacks beats The Bear for Best Comedy in shocking Emmy Awards upset as fans all say the same thing

Hacks beat The Bear to a top gong at the Emmys , leaving audiences stunned.

In a shock twist, Hacks beat favorite The Bear in best writing in a comedy series. The team took home the award for the episode Bulletproof and co-writer Paul W Downs thanked those who stuck with the show from day one.

He said: "If you have seen the show, or feel more seen by the show, you have made us feel more connected to the world."

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards returned tonight with a jam-packed ceremony full of surprises.

The TV-centered award show was being held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California today on Sunday, September 15. First time hosts as well as father-and-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy are hosted the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards. The Bear follows close behind with 23 nods, making history as the most nominated comedy series in one year. The previous honor was held by 30 Rock with 22 nominations.

There have been other historic moments in terms of nominations for actors. Lily Gladstone and Kali Reis are both nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, Movie or Anthology category respectively for Under the Bridge and True Detective. This makes them the first Indigenous women to receive acting Emmys. D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai also is the first Indigenous actor nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Reservation Dogs.

Sofia Vergara is the first Latina to earn the nod for Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series. She nomination for her titular role in Griselda. Anna Sawai could make history as the first Japanese woman to win an Emmy if she secures the win for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series.
