A red wine spillage can be a party pooper, especially when it's on your carpet . The deeper the hue of the drink, the more challenging it becomes to remove the stain from your carpet fibers.

And while you might be tempted to scrub away with cleaning products, beware!

Vigorous efforts can sometimes make things worse. There are countless tips floating around on how to lift red wine stains, but they often end in disappointment.

But hold onto your hats because a cleaning whizz has come up with a genius hack that's set to change the game. Determined to show off the ultimate red wine stain removal method, this savvy cleaner decided to create a video tutorial, finally setting the record straight on the most effective cleaning practice.

Zachary Pozniak, of Jeeves of Belgravia Dry Cleaners in New York, who shared his magic trick with nearly 600,000 TikTok fans. His economical hack requires nothing more than warm water, white vinegar, an iron and a clean towel, offering a solution that won't break the bank, reports the Mirror .

Zachary, a cleaning guru, shared his magic carpet rescue for wine spills, detailing: "First, you're going to take one part vinegar, and three parts warm water. Pour that on the stain. Vinegar is going to neutralize it and then we're going to put a clean towel on top of it."

He continued with the process, advising to heat an iron to its hottest setting and press it over the towel-covered stain, saying, "Heat your iron hottest setting and iron it. Heat is hopefully going to transfer the wine stain from the carpet into your towel."

He also mentioned, "You don't need to push some steam into it, just let the heat do its thing. You may need to repeat this, but you can already see the wine coming up."

In his demonstration, Zachary used fresh towels repeatedly until he was satisfied with the results.

For any lingering discoloration, Zachary suggests a final touch: "If there is 'residual redness' use hydrogen peroxide on the stain."

He explained, "This is an oxygenating bleach and it's going to correct that colour over time. It's a great thing to have in the house as is but honestly, this works pretty well."

In a viral sensation, he douses the afflicted area with hydrogen peroxide and lets it sit. Cut to the next scene, and lo and behold, the stain is history.

But Zachary cautions his loyal fanbase: while this trick slays red wine blunders, don't expect the same results with other stubborn stains like egg and blood. He explains, "Acids are great at removing tannin-based stains like coffee, wine and tea."

And just before saving you from your next spill emergency, he offers this nugget of wisdom: "Heat will only set protein stains like egg, blood, gravy etc as they can become 'cooked' with high temperatures."
