An 11-year-old boy was freed after being trapped between two boulders near his school for over nine hours.

The boy, who slipped into the crevice in Windsor around 3:15 am, was taken to a hospital for evaluation and subsequently released, as per the Wediko School in New Hampshire where he is a student.

The school , a residential treatment center for boys, said: "On Sunday evening, while under supervision, a student exploring a rocky area on campus slipped between two boulders when sticks and debris gave way beneath them." Despite the efforts of multiple staff members to free the student, they were unsuccessful and had to call local emergency rescue services.

The statement further added: "Emergency responders worked tirelessly through the night, successfully rescuing the student in the early morning."

Hillsborough Fire Chief Kenny Stafford reported that firefighters received a call shortly before 6pm on Sunday, finding the boy "lodged between the crevasse" in a large boulder. They used ropes and a lubricant to rescue the child.

First responders from at least five other communities, along with the state police and Fish and Game Department, assisted with the rescue operation in Windsor, located in southern New Hampshire .
