8-year-old girl drives mom's car 13 miles to Target in Ohio

An eight-year-old girl from Bedford, Ohio , took her family's SUV and drove 13 miles to a Target store .

She was later found safe and unharmed. The young girl and the 2020 Nissan Rogue were reported missing around 9 am on Sunday, according to Bedford police . The family last saw her at home about two hours prior.

As the investigation unfolded, police received information about a small child seen driving a car on a nearby road, but the vehicle could not be traced. However, the SUV was eventually discovered in the parking lot of a Target store in Bainbridge, nearly 13 miles away from her residence.

The child was located alone inside the store shortly after. She admitted to hitting a mailbox while driving, but no other incidents were reported.

The police stated that the girl is too young to face criminal charges. As of Monday, it was unclear whether any charges would be filed in relation to this incident, which is still under investigation.
