The DP World Tour has adamantly rejected an olive branch from LIV Golf - a proposal aimed at settling the penalties its players owe and allowing them access back to the European circuit freely.

The DP World Tour's relationship with LIV has been a fractured one, ever since the latter emerged in the summer of 2022. Nearly a year after LIV's inaugural event, the DP World Tour won an arbitration case that granted it authority to impose fines and bans on members who take part in the rogue circuit's "conflicting" events.

This decision led to several notable European golfers including Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia, and Lee Westwood, to relinquish their DP World Tour membership to avoid further disciplinary actions.

The spotlight more recently has focused on two pivotal Ryder Cup figures in Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton. Both have appealeed the sanctions from the DP World Tour, which will enable them to play on the Tour this fall, helping their bid to make next year's Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

Yet, despite these developments, former world No. 1 Rahm has made it clear he is not willing to pay any pending fines. "I'm not a big fan of the fines," Rahm conveyed last week. "I've been outspoken about the fines. I don't intend to pay the fines and we keep trying to have a discussion with them about how we can make this happen."

LIV Golf executives have reportedly reached out to the DP World Tour in an attempt to resolve their ongoing dispute, according to Sports Illustrated. A DP World Tour spokesperson told Mirror Sports: " We met with them and listened to their proposal but did not accept it, as our view remains that the focus should continue to be on all stakeholders working together to reach an overall solution that benefits our sport.”

LIV Golf have also been contacted for comment.

The report suggests that the breakaway league proposed a deal in August allowing free movement between the tours, along with a settlement fee paid by the league to the European circuit, estimated at $8 million. LIV bosses also proposed an exemption category for the Asian Tour's 10 International Series events, enabling DP World Tour members to participate.

However, it is claimed that the DP World Tour declined the offer. As part of the proposed deal, LIV also pledged not to schedule events during the same week as some of the European circuit's major tournaments. For instance, this week's LIV Team Championship in Dallas coincides with the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Representatives from both sides reportedly met in August but failed to reach an agreement. Consequently, several of Europe's top golfers will miss the flagship event, including Hatton, who won the championship at the Surrey setup in 2020.
