LeBron James didn't miss a beat in applauding A'ja Wilson as the record books were rewritten in the WNBA once more.

The Las Vegas Aces' center made history on Sunday, becoming the first WNBA player to tally 1,000 points in a single regular season. She did so in the closing moments of the Aces' 84-71 victory against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.

She ended the game with a robust 29 points, hitting 13-of-25 shots, and rounding off her stats with nine rebounds, three assists, and a couple of blocks. Fans erupted with praise for Wilson's impressive accomplishment, including sports legend James .

Showing his support, the Los Angeles Lakers star took to his Instagram and posted a photo featuring the jubilant 28-year-old and her squad, accompanied by eight emojis of hands raised in celebration - a symbol typically used to laud an achievement.

James has a history of celebrating Wilson's triumphs. After she broke Jewell Loyd's prior single-season scoring record just last week, the renowned basketball figure commented on X: "STRAIGHT [buckets]!!! CONGRATULATIONS SIS! Love to see it!!!"

Back in July, James put the spotlight on Wilson's sheer dominance, just as the pair were set to represent Team USA in the Paris Olympics. "She's the best player in the WNBA as it stands today," he said. "They hit a hot streak ever since [guard] Chelsea Gray has come back. She's a big piece to their puzzle. They will be one of the teams that will compete for a championship."

Wilson's season performance indeed cements her status as the premiere player in the league. As of Monday, she's topping the WNBA charts with 27 points and 2.6 blocks per game, while also securing the second spot for rebounds (12) and fourth for steals (1.8).

In the meantime, Wilson's team, the Aces, are holding onto the league's fourth-best record at 25-13. They are only tailing behind teams such as the New York Liberty (31-7), Minnesota Lynx (29-9), and Sun (27-11) in the league rankings.

And although Wilson's award shelf already boasts two MVPs and a duo of WNBA championships, she asserts there's room to grow in her gameplay. "I really try to pinpoint little things," she told reporters after reaching 1,000 points.

"Everyone can come in and say, 'Oh, I want to win a championship.' But what are the little things you're going to do to get to that point? That's what I want to be great in.

“I really have to credit my offseason work and my preparation. I take time to get away from basketball, to let me miss it. So then when I'm in it, I don't take it for granted. My screensaver is, 'Rest at the end, not in the middle,' and that's something I tell myself every single day. I got work to do, that that's going to be my mindset until I'm done playing, until I've squeezed everything out of this game."
