Ashley Park is getting candid about what she has learned from her heath battle with sepsis.

On Tuesday's Good Morning America , co-anchor Michael Strahan interviewed the actress about the latest season of her show Emily in Paris. He asked her to clarify a statement that the show gave her new meaning through her road to season four which was a challenge for her health wise. Ashley confirmed that it did and stated how "wild" is it to watch season four back seeing what she went through, but "sometimes the most challenging times of your life when you persevere through it become the most rewarding."

She added how she loves when fans come up to her to tell her the series "lifted me out of a hard time or a bad day" which is a sentiment she can relate to. Ashley elaborated that she "experienced that firsthand" with having to show up to work and being in her character's shoes or "stilettos" after her sepsis diagnosis which caused her to be a month late to filming. She continued saying the cast and crew supported her like a family, especially co-star Lily Collins and Paul Forman (who is also Ashley's boyfriend).

"I don't think I could have done if for any other show," Ashley said.

Then Michael played a clip of Ashley as Mindy Chen singing an original song by Freddy Wrexler called Beautiful Ruins on the season finale of the Netlix show. After watching the clip of the scene, she got a bit emotional and explained why it hit "close to home." She said that scene was her last day of filming and how it's a "magical thing when the words you’re singing as a character matches what you’re feeling on the inside."

The Mean Girls Musical alum explained further that while her and her character have different circumstances, the song for her is "about highs and lows and finding something beautiful in devastation or ruins or heartbreak." She concluded that the emotion heard in the singing is coming from both her soul and Mindy's.

The 33-year-old plays Mindy Chen who is Emily Cooper's (Lily Collins) first friend when Emily moves to Paris. Mindy is an aspiring singer from Shanghai and a nanny in the French capital. Ashley has played Mindy for all four season and will come back for season five as the show has been renewed.

In January of this year, Ashley suffered a medical emergency while on vacation in the Maldives with Paul. She had tonsillitis that advanced to septic shock. Septic shock is a life-threatening condition of sepsis which is the body's extreme reaction to fighting an illness that causes very low blood pressure and organ failure, according to Mayo Clinic .
