America's Got Talent has released a statement regarding the shocking death of contestant, Emily Gold, who died by suicide last week.

She had competed on the NBC series as a member of the Los Osos High School dance team and had reached the quarter finals during season 19.

The 17-year-old died by suicide on September 13 at 11:52 pm, and was found dead under a bridge on the eastbound 210 Highway in Rancho Cucamonga, California , according to the San Bernardino Coroner's Office.

The TV show shared a touching tribute to Emily on Facebook , writing: "The AGT Family sends out our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and team members of Emily Gold. She was a bright young soul and will be deeply missed."

Her death came just weeks after she and the dance team appeared on the show, even scoring a standing ovation before getting cut in an August episode.

Los Osos High School announced the news of her passing on Saturday, with their principal Eric Cypher saying in a statement: “Emily was on both our Varsity Dance Team and Varsity cheer squad, our thoughts and prayer are with the family as they grieve. Please keep Emily and her loved ones and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

A GoFundMe campaign was also shared in honor of the cheerleader, with over $38,000 being raised so far.

Many of Emily’s friends have taken to social media to share their condolences following her untimely death.

“Let it be known that she now rests easy although there were many that loved Emily Gold and even looked up to her,” Samantha Shaw penned on Facebook. “She will be remembered none the less by her fellow Grizzlies and by those who loved her with all their heart and soul.”

She added: “Emily Gold, thank you for all that you have done in this world. You have done more than enough. Claws up to you Emily. Claws up.”

"You brought me the most beautiful form of love I could ask for. My best friend, my forever dance sister,” Emily's dance teammate Mia Bustamante said.

AGT judge Simon Cowell praised Emily and her dance crew on the show, calling their on-stage routine "absolutely brilliant."

The former American Idol judge then said after the performance: "I think what I just saw is everything a grade school should be doing, which is encouraging talent, friendship."

"It reminded me of when I used to watch those High School Musical movies, thinking, 'Everybody should go to a school like that' because it's fun," Simon said.
