Elon Musk on track to become the world’s first trillionaire in 2027 amid sprawling empire

Informa Connect Academy concluded that controversy and a sprawling business empire have put billionaire Elon Musk on track to become the world's first trillionaire by 2027 , if everything goes according to plan.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has been rapidly growing net worth at an average rate of 100 percent per year, and if all goes well and none of his competitors manage to knock him out of his spot, Musk will become the first trillionaire fairly soon. Musk is already the richest man on earth , with a current net worth of $243.7 billion.

Musk surpassed Bernard Arnault of France to take the top spot in late May 2024 to claim the title of richest, but Arnault or any number of competitors could catch up .

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos comes in at $194 billion, with his company reporting slow but steady increases in the last fiscal quarter. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, the company whose computer chips are powering the artificial intelligence boom, could become a trillionaire in 2028, with a current net worth of $104 billion, according to Bloomberg. An Indian billionaire, Gautam Adani, is also on track to become a trillionaire the year after Musk.

Musk's car company, Tesla, has become the world’s most valuable auto company, now worth about $710 billion. According to CNN, Tesla values higher than Coca-Cola, Bank of America, and Boeing combined.

SpaceX, despite numerous glitches is still going forward sending missions to space and giving other billionaires chances to ride on rockets , was valued at $210 billion.

It helps that Elon Musk carries on friendships with Donald Trump , a former president, as well as a number of other politicians and billionaires that keep his name mired in controversies.

Musk is also known for taking risks and not always adhering to laws, something that has slashed his net worth as recently as this summer . In January, a judge ruled that Elon Musk must forfeit a Tesla compensation package potentially worth over $55 billion.

However, Musk's varied businesses help him recover quick - so unless one of Forbes' listed richest runners-up suddenly has a massive stroke of luck, the tech mogul who occasionally branches out to anti-trans rhetoric that inspires more lawsuits , is likely to be first man to see what a trillion dollar bill might look like.
