America's Got Talent fans slam 'shameful' show for 'staying silent' after Emily Gold's death

America's Got Talent fans were left disappointed during the season finale as the show stayed silent and paid no tribute on live television after the death of Emily Gold .

On September 17 during the season 19 finale, many fans expected the reality show to pay a special homage in memory of their former contestant Emily who died by suicide last week . Emily had previously competed on the hit NBC talent series as a member of the Los Osos High School dance team and which had reached the quarter finals earlier this season. And while the show has paid their respects to deceased contests in the past, they shied away from doing the same for Emily.

The 17-year-old died on September 13 at 11:52 pm, and was found dead under a bridge on the eastbound 210 Highway in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Her death came a few weeks after she and the dance team appeared on the show and was even met with a standing ovation from the audience.

And as the show failed to address her death on TV many fans took to X, formerly Twitter, sharing their outrage over the matter. One viewer wrote: "Really no 'rest in peace' for Emily Gold? Didn't need a segment but not a Tribute image we see at the end of other shows when they lost people? Their social media did acknowledge it, but y'all put on so many stories but the moment a tragedy happens y'all stay silent on TV?"

They continued: "Like sorry to go on a whole rant about this, but this show doesn't shy away from talking about shit. The moment a suicide happens, there's no acknowledgement about it? Y'all acknowledged Nightbirde on the show when she died from cancer, but can't do the same for Emily Gold?"

While another fan added: "maybe they could have done a tribute for emily gold." To which someone else questioned: "I agree. Maybe they are waiting for the end?" And after the episode wrapped, another viewer shared a clip of the final moments of the finale and replied: "This was the ending and they didn't even address it. Shame on them."

After the heartbreaking news of her death broke, America's Got Talent did however break their silence on social media and shared their respects for the former contestant. In a Facebook post the official AGT account wrote: "The AGT Family sends out our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and team members of Emily Gold. She was a bright young soul and will be deeply missed."
