An Ohio man was sentenced to life in prison after admitting he killed his wife then dismemberied her body .

35-year-old Christopher Morrison was sentenced Tuesday for murder , tampering with evidence, possessing criminal tools, gross abuse of a corpse, and firearm specifications in the death of his wife, Tiffany Morrison, 34 , Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito J. Abruzzino announced on Tuesday in a news release .

Morrison admitted to shooting Tiffany a week before Christmas last year in the bathroom shower of their home to stop her from divorcing him. The couple’s three young children, and a 63-year-old woman were at the home at the time of the killing, local Fox affiliate WJW reported.

After shooting her in the head Morrison purchased a saw, blades, rubbing alcohol, and trash bags in order to hide her body, prosecutors said. He then used the saw he purchased to dismember her body. Morrison then placed the remains into garbage bags and left them inside a shed on their Shadyside Road property.

“Tiffany’s body was moved to an outside shed on the property. The hole in the shower was hidden and patched up,” Assistant Columbiana County Prosecutor Ryan Weikart, said. “A heinous and unimaginable act that shows his genuine lack of remorse.”

Tiffany's mother, Ruth Mahley, spoke in court about the impact Tiffany's death has had on her family. “The anger, hurt and disbelief were unimaginable. Our lives were shattered,” Mahley said. “I find myself dialing Tiffany’s number and then hanging up when I realize with a heavy heart that I will never hear that sweet voice again.”

In court Morrison apologized and expressed his regrets. “Our children now have to go forward without either of us,” he said. “And there is nothing I regret more. I’ll be sorry for this until my last breath.”

Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton sentenced Morrison to life in prison with no chance for parole until 2050. She said Morrison's actions after killing Tiffany justify his sentence.

“It wasn’t the reaction of a man who loved and cared about his wife,” said Bickerton. “It was the reaction of a monster who was trying to get away with murder."
