Lindsay Hartley is currently filling in as Sam McCall on General Hospital.
This is not the first time the actress (also known as Lindsay Korman-Hartley) has subbed in for the original portrayer Kelly Monaco on the ABC daytime drama . She did so in three other instances - in August 2020, February 2022, and in August 2024. Fans last saw her on August 22 before her September 16 reappearance, when Sam's sisters Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) and Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) had their falling out at a baby's funeral.
Now Lindsay is back as Sam for multiple episodes, however, it's unclear until when. This all comes as Kelly was reported to be exiting the show in late August. At the time, it was reported she was "blindsided" and that her GH character was going to be killed this fall. Fans have been fighting the decision with petitions and billboard trucks . So far the only thing Kelly had said about her firing, was in a deleted Instagram comment saying she "took the cut," and that was all she will "say in this moment."
Lets take a look into Lindsay's life behind the camera and her time in the soap opera world.
Daytime History
The 46-year-old has a history with daytime television. She started out acting on soap operas with her first role as Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald on the NBC series, Passions. Passions ran for nine seasons. She was nominated for the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Female Newcomer in 2000 for her role. She also went to two other big name soaps such as Days of Our Lives and All My Children. She played Arianna Hernandez on Days of Our Lives from 2009 to 2010 and Cara Castillo on ABC soap All My Children from 2010 to 2011 and 2013.
When she came back as Sam on GH in August 22, she made a post of gratitude for daytime television and getting to work with her longtime friend Brook Kerr, who plays Portia Robinson on GH. They first met while acting together on Passions. Her post read: "I’ve been part of daytime television since I was 21, and it holds a special place in my heart, for countless reasons. I’m grateful to step into such big shoes again - especially when I get to do it alongside my bestie @brookkerr."
She also been in other projects such as CSI, Smallville, and a number of Lifetime films such as The Wrong Nanny and Evil Doctor. Before she started acting, Lindsay was a vocalist. She's been singing since age 11 and got the role in a Broadway production of Grease at age 18, as well as taking on the lead of Maria in the Civic Light Opera's West Side Story in Austin, Texas. Lindsay has won other national vocal competitions like The Los Angeles Philharmonic's Award-Vocal/Opera, The National Date Festival, and America's Showcase Starlet.
Divorce and Motherhood
Lindsay first met ex-husband Justin Hartley on the set of Passions. They tied the knot in May 2004 and welcomed their daughter Isabella in July 2004. The soap star filed for divorce from Justin on May 6, 2012, after eight years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences." The couple has remained friends and share joint custody of their daughter. Isabella is now 20 years old and currently a student at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
The California native has defended the This is Us actor in the middle of his split from Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause in 2020. She took to Instagram to issue a statement where shared her support and appreciation for Justin being a "solid man" and called him a dear friend and devoted father to our daughter." Justin is currently with wife Sofia Pernas, and they met on the set of the Young and The Restless. Lindsay's current relationship status is unknown.
