Scottie Scheffler admits Brooks Koepka disappointment over Presidents Cup due to LIV Golf dispute

Scottie Scheffler has admitted he misses competing alongside the likes of Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau from the LIV Golf circuit ahead of this week's Presidents Cup in Montreal.

Scheffler is a part of the 12-man Team USA squad that will take on the International Team at Royal Montreal Golf Club, with the American team looking to win a 10th straight Presidents Cup crown over their rivals. This week's event will go ahead without members of the LIV setup involved, amid the ongoing split in men's professional golf.

With the matchplay event sanctioned by the PGA Tour, those who compete in the breakaway league are banned from representing the two teams whilst the two sides continue to negotiate a peace deal that will bring the sport back together.

For Jim Furyk's U.S. team, this has led to two key omissions in particular, with U.S. Open champion, DeChambeau, and five-time major winner, Koepka not involved this week. The LIV duo will get the chance to return to the matchplay arena in December when they take on their rivals from the PGA Tour, Scheffler and Rory McIlroy , in Las Vegas.

Scheffler will be teeing it up for Team USA on Friday, and whilst he is looking forward to reuniting with Koepka and DeChambeau later this year, he did admit he misses competing out on the course with the LIV stars. "I've partnered with Brooks and Bryson at Ryder Cups before," he claimed on Tuesday.

"I've never obviously had a chance to play with Rory at the Ryder Cup, but those are two guys I really miss competing against. Brooks has five major championships -- five, six? Five. That's a pretty cool record for him. He's had a great career. He's a guy I love competing against.

"You've got Bryson, with all his stuff, I think he's a fun guy to be around. It definitely interested me, and the way things fell together, it seemed to work out nice. It seems like a fun deal." The PGA Tour remains in negotiations with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) over ending their feud.

For now, top-level golf remains split in two, and whilst he was initially left frustrated with the fallout - mainly LIV players previously attempting to take legal action against the PGA Tour - he believes any tensions are beginning to fade. "There's just so many moving pieces in that deal," he claimed.

"It's one of those things where like my friendships to guys out there haven't really changed that much. I think in the beginning when some of the guys were suing us, that was a bit frustrating for the players out here, but over time those things kind of fade. I don't think there was a ton of ill will for that type of stuff."

LIV players whining about having it both ways is hurting their cause. Were they that lied to when they jumped to LIV? They knew the repercussions...I think their arrogance just figured everyone would miss them so much that they'd just have it any way they want? LIV demands to keep everything 3 rounds and no cut and shotgun start..so keep it. Create your own majors, your own Ryder Cup style event, all of it. This acting like you're owed something at this point is ridiculous. If your product improves and gets more popular, the viewership will gain traction. Maybe create a cool event where DP vs PGA Tour vs LIV could happen? But time to stop thinking legacy and rebel self-congratulation tour are mutually compatible just because you want it all. Until then we know where to find you if we accidentally find out you're having a tournament.

Koepka is anti-American. His greed & arrogance is disgusting! He takes blood money from the country that killed thousands of Americans and complains because he can’t play on PGA Tour! Too bad you A$$. Hope you have a miserable career & unhappy life! You chose very stupidly!
