The beloved school-based sitcom, Abbott Elementary, is gearing up for its fourth season, with a fresh trailer giving fans a glimpse of what's to come for the teachers and their students.

The comedy show, which has bagged three Emmys, will soon return to ABC. The sitcom is the brainchild of Quinta Brunson, who also stars as the main character, Janine Teagues.

After three triumphant seasons, our cherished educators are set to return for more mayhem, amusement, and touching moments at the fictitious Philadelphia-based Abbott Elementary.

The show's synopsis states: "In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers - and a slightly tone-deaf principal - are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life.

"Though these incredible educators may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do - even if they don't love the school district's less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children."

A brand-new trailer for the fourth season was unveiled yesterday, hinting that Abbott might be facing a significant health crisis, reports the Mirror .

An impending ringworm outbreak sends the school into a state of utter chaos.

Principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James) isn't taking any risks, donning a full hazmat suit, while Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams) exclaims: "Cancel classes, burn Abbott down!"

The trailer teases some chaotic scenes, with one showing a character frantically locking himself inside a classroom as co-workers scramble for disinfectants.

Viewers get a glimpse of the staff's desperate attempts to steer clear of a rampant fungal infection, with one intense moment where custodian Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) warns Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti), saying: "I love you like a son, Jacob, but I will beat you down."

As the sneak peek progresses, it becomes evident that the educators' basic needs continue to be neglected. A particularly striking scene features Principal Coleman sarcastically deriding Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter): "We want books. We want paper towels in the class. I bet y'all want raises, too."

The trailer serves up a mix of moments ranging from school dances to HR encounters and even the roll-out of a new class pet initiative, adding levity to the challenges at hand.

Janine appears in a confessional segment, sharing: "We asked the district for more after-school programs... They gave us $50 for class pets instead."

Abbott Elementary season 4 premieres Wednesday, October 9 at 9.30 pm on ABC. The show is also available to stream on Hulu.
