Casey White details 'illicit love affair' with prison guard that ended with her 'going out with a bang'

A jail escapee detailed how he and his prison guard lover sprung out of prison and ran from police for 11 days before an intense car chase resulted in the woman blowing her brains out.

Corrections officer Vicky White had been employed at Lauderdale County jail for almost two decades before inmate Casey White, convicted of attempted murderer, arrived in August 2020. Their illicit love affair is the subject of a new Netflix documentary—Jailbreak: Love on the Run, which details the tumultuous romantic relationship the pair shared that ultimately drove Vicky to help her incarcerated lover escape.

The two managed to evade arrest for 11 days before they were cornered by police , scaring Vicky enough to shoot herself in the head and leave her man to fend for himself. Following the arrest, Casey told producers the two were married "in my laws," offering a glimpse into just how close he was with Vicky. "We weren't married in faith laws... I was her husband and she was my wife," he said.

Casey, initially sentenced to 75 years in prison over the attempted murder of his former girlfriend, will now die in prison as dictated by a judge who sentenced him to life over the escape attempt. The two believed they would never be caught, so they never created a contingency plan in the event of arrest, which seemingly led to Vicky's panic.

"We thought we had enough cash money," he said, adding the plan was to duck into a "rinky dink trailer" and pay a year's rent up front to give them enough time to fully escape pursuing officers. "When we got to Kentucky and got out of the shower she had me all new clothes laid out on the bed and that was the best night right here," he said.

Viewers were able to listen to private calls between the couple, from November 2020 to February 2022, which was two months before the pair escape attempt April 28. Producers also had a sit down with a few people close to the perpetrators: Caey's cellmate Tyler Purser, who knew all about the affair but remained silent to reap the benefits Vicky was capable of providing, and the disgraced guard's longtime colleagues.

Ironically, Vicky dreamed about going "out with a bang" after retirement, according to medical nurse Kylie O'Bryant. "I would always ask when she was going to retire and she would say 'I'm going out with a bang.'" Kylie said she didn't know her coworker meant it literally.

"Well if she really wanted him that bad, I am proud of her. I am proud of her for doing exactly what she told me she was going to do and that was go out with a bang. Sister, she went out with a bang."
