Machine Gun Kelly fans shocked by unexpected wins at the 2024 People's Choice Country Awards

Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) is officially an award-winning country music artist .

At the 2024 People's Country Music Awards singer Machine Gun Kelly , an artist famously known for his alternative rock music, bagged two country music awards. The unlikely recipient was honored with winning both Best Crossover Song and Best Cover Song at the ceremony beating out other chart-topping country artists nominated in the categories including Morgan Wallen and Beyoncé .

MGT took home the award for Best Crossover Song for his song 'Lonely Road' featuring country singer Jelly Roll and won Best Cover Song for his cover of Zach Bryan's popular hit 'Sun To Me.' And as MGK heard his name called, he seemed to be just as surprised as everyone else as he ecstatically leaped out of his seat and was greeted by a group of his friends showering him in hugs and high-fives.

As MGK took the stage, he gave a heartfelt speech as he said: "Country music, thank you for welcoming us into your house. I don’t view music in genres. To me, there’s two genres of music — good music and bad music. I think we’re in the good part."

MGK then went on to praise his collaborator Jelly Roll, while mentioning their previous feud, as he added: "We went from 10 years ago hating each other to elevating each other." He added: "Comparison is the thief of joy. There is enough room on this couch for everybody. We found camaraderie in the chaos.”

The 34-year-old singer continued: "Last year, I was right there, sitting in that seat, watching my boy rocking that stage. And I was like, ‘Man, one day I hope we’re up there.' And we’re here!" And then smiled and lifted the trophy above his head.

And after MGK's unexpected win, fans took to X, formerly Twitter, sharing an outpour of love for the artist and his ability to showcase his talents across multiple genres. One fan wrote: "The shock on his face! I am so happy for him! He DID that! Many more to come!! Congratulations." And another penned: "Stoppppppp this is the cutest thing ever. CONGRATS @machinegunkelly!!! SO DESERVED."

While someone else chimed in: "SO PROUD OF @machinegunkelly THIS MAN ISN'T A GENRE HE IS POSITIVITY AND CREATIVENESS AND LOVE!!!!!! NOBODY DESERVED THE AWARD MORE THAN THIS KING." And a fourth supporter wrote: "Add country music award winner to his laundry list of accomplishments."
