Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey has said it "meant a lot" seeing Post Malone wear his jersey on Thursday night, as the NFL star shared a special moment with the artist pregame .

Post Malone was in attendance at MetLife Stadium to watch his beloved Cowboys beat the New York Giants , and was on the field before the game wearing an Aubrey jersey. The Cowboys kicker went over to greet him on the field and ended up signing his own jersey for the megastar.

It was a surreal moment for the kicker who only made it to the NFL in 2023, and has since been regarded as the best player in his position. Aubrey revealed to Mirror U.S. Sports after the game that he'd met Post Malone once before and explained how the artist has a hidden connection to his wife.

"My wife grew up in the same town as him, same age, kind of a connection there," Aubrey told Mirror U.S. Sports. "I met him once before and he's an awesome guy, a fantastic artist I think the most talented of our generation so anytime someone like that wears your jersey it means a lot. Very thankful for that, he's a great guy and fun to chat with."

Post Malone is a big football fan and performed "America The Beautiful" at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas earlier this year. But the artist is a lifelong Cowboys fan and is often seen attending games after forming a friendship with franchise owner Jerry Jones.

Aubrey ended up sinking a 60-yard field goal in front of Post Malone but reminded everyone that he is human after missing a kick late in the fourth quarter. Aubrey's teammates looked surprised at the rare miss, with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott cracking a smile on the sidelines.

After the game, Prescott poked fun at Aubrey as he said: "He's special; he's a great talent. I think that [last] one was too short for him. He just wanted to give them a little bit of a cinematic end right there."

It was just the third miss of his NFL career, but it didn't impact the result as Giants quarterback Daniel Jones threw an interception on his final drive to hand Dallas the win. Aubrey has made 48 of 51 field goal attempts in his NFL career and is closing in on Justin Tucker's record.

The longest completed field goal in the NFL remains 66 yards after Justin Tucker drilled one against the Detroit Lions in 2021 to secure a walk-off victory for the Baltimore Ravens. Aubrey matched his record in the preseason and has already converted from 65 yards this year, and believes he can beat it in the coming months.

"Yeah, absolutely. We've already attempted two from 66, and that's just when the ball happened to stop," Aubrey told Mirror U.S. Sports. "I think 67 or 68 is reasonable, 69 is a must-have situation. And 70, if it gets back there assess the options but if the opportunity comes up I think they'll let me kick it."
