    Jeopardy! fans 'super excited' as Pop Culture spin-off announces premiere date and schedule

    Pop Culture Jeopardy! is coming this December.

    The highly anticipated spinoff of the trivia game will premiere on December 4 and will stream Wednesdays on Amazon Prime . The official Jeopardy! X formerly Twitter account made the announcement on Thursday, September 26. The show will be hosted by comedian and SNL star Colin Jost . The comedian was announced on July 31 to be taking over as host and he expressed his enthusiasm in the press release, saying, "What is: I’m excited."

    The Prime spinoff was first announced in May . It's an iteration of Jeopardy! that was exclusively made for the streaming service. According to the Jeopardy! website , contestants in teams of three "will need to be experts in categories from Alternative Rock to The Avengers; Broadway to MMA; Gen Z to Zendaya." The teams of three will compete in a tournament event and can win up to $300,000 in cash prizes.

    Fans took to social media share their excitement at the news and as well as things they were hoping to see. On a Jeopardy subreddit, one fan wrote: "Super excited. Have the prize amounts been confirmed?" Another said: "Colin is a great choice for this." Another said: "Hope we get to see contestant announcements soon. Hoping for some big names and for some soon-to-be big names! Maybe even a few big names in the quizzing world!" A fan on Instagram wrote said: "We want it now." A second Instagram fan said: " Can’t wait for this!"

    The inaugural season of the new show will be 40 episodes and three new episodes will air each week. There will be 81 teams of threes that will be facing off in a four-round tournament. Each teams will have their own names and some of the examples were shown in the teaser images Prime Video released with the news of the official date. Some of the names were "Nerd Alert!" and "40 Years Late For Detention."

    The upcoming episodes of Pop Culture Jeopardy! will be a part of the streaming service's new "Winning Wednesdays" programming lineup. Other game shows that are included in the lineup are Wish List Games, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? and Buy It Now. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will be hosting Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? which is premiering on October 16 with three episodes at first and then it'll be one a week until the February 12, 2025 finale.

    Comedian and actor JB Smoove will be hosting a US version of British reality TV show Buy It Now where seasoned and emerging entrepreneurs pitch their products to investors and buyers. Wish List Games is a game show where contestants from the audience partake in games for the opportunity to secure their whole Amazon Wish List up to $25,000. TV host and actor Nick Cannon will host the show which all five episodes will come out on November 20.
